Chanrai Partners Tulip Compression to Supply CNG Compressor Packages for Nigeria’s National CNG Initiative

Chanrai Nigeria Limited has sealed a strategic cooperation with Tulip Compression to deliver complete high-capacity CNG compressor systems and integrated skid-mounted station solutions across Nigeria, supporting the federal government’s Presidential CNG Initiative.

The cooperation covers turnkey compression packages for CNG mother stations, daughter stations and standalone refueling sites. The reciprocating CNG compressors are designed to compress pipeline natural gas from 0.4–7 bar up to 250 bar, meeting standard vehicle refueling requirements. The modular compressor units feature remote monitoring, automatic load adjustment and optimized intercooling to cut energy consumption under continuous cyclic operation.

Anil Sahgal, COO of Chanrai Nigeria, stated that reliable, low-maintenance compressors are the core bottleneck limiting rapid construction of Nigeria’s gas refueling network. The single-window integrated station solution combining compressors, storage vessels and dispensers will shorten site installation cycles and reduce civil engineering work.

Industry analysts point out that Nigeria plans to build over 150 new CNG filling stations in the next two years, bringing strong demand for multi-stage reciprocating CNG compressors. Operators prioritize explosion-proof design, easy access to spare parts and localized after-sales service for compressor equipment in West Africa’s harsh operating environment.
