The next stage of the equipment modernization program has begun at Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant (PPRP), a subsidiary of KMG. New Japanese Hitachi BCH455 oil gas compressors are being installed at the deep oil refining plant.
Installing this equipment will significantly increase energy efficiency from 75% to 87%, reduce energy consumption from 3.10 MW to 2.3 MW, and significantly increase the maintenance interval from 8,600 hours to 24,000 hours, which in turn will reduce maintenance costs.
The current modernization activities are a continuation of the work carried out earlier: in 2023-2024, the project to replace Ingersoll Rand air compressors at the PMRF was completed. While the previous stage was crucial in ensuring a reliable supply of compressed air for control and measuring instruments and plant needs, the current project, which includes Hitachi compressors, will directly affect the main technological process. The new units will compress hydrocarbon gas, which is an integral part of the deep oil refining process.
Thus, the two projects — replacement of air and gas compressors — are complementary elements of the comprehensive modernization of the PMR. This demonstrates KMG's consistent strategy aimed at introducing advanced technologies for sustainable development and increasing the competitiveness of the domestic oil refining industry.
